Simpson Costumes
Marge Simpson is probably one of the most popular fictional main characters
of the animated TV series – The Simpsons. A happy homemaker and a mother of three, she is one of the characters who
stands out the most with her blue beehive hairstyle and her lime green dress. Hence if you are looking for a fun
and funky costume which can not only be easily put together but also goes easy on your pocket the Marge Simpson Costume is your best bet. With this one you can’t
possibly go wrong.
Characterized as every bit of a nagging mother and wife, Marge Simpson is
usually found dressed in a simple lime green dress teamed with a line of red beads around her neck and a pair of
matching red pumps. What makes the look stand out is the classic blue beehive hairdo. So if you want to stand out
in one of your fancy dress parties here is how: first of all get a piece of lime green fabric, enough to wrap
around yourself one and a half times. Best would be to sew it into a tube style dress, but remember to put ample
elastic at the top to hold it up. Also make sure it is not so tight so as to suffocate you. You could also choose
to get a readymade lime green tube style dress instead. If you do not have enough time to sew it together and are
unable to find a readymade dress too, then you could choose to wear a tube top and a pair of shorts or pants as
base layer.
Now wrap the rectangular lime green piece of clothing around yourself like a
towel. While doing so make sure to tuck the fabric into the tube top (only) and pin it up safely to make sure that
the fabric remains in place. Once the dress is done the major part of the Marge Simpson costume is ready. Then for
the famous beehive hairdo the best bet would be to get a blue wig in a beehive hairstyle. If a wig is not available
then take about eight to ten inches of poster board and roll it into a tube/cylindrical shape and fit it around
your head. Make sure the length is manageable and also the tube fits your head perfectly without being too tight.
Once it is the correct size glue it together and then glue quilt batting all over it and let it dry.
After it dries spray paint it blue and you have your own Marge Simpson wig.
Then team it up with a line of large, oversized red beads, preferably the fifties style bobble beads, around your
neck and a pair of red pumps to go along with it. You may want to spray paint the beads and the pumps red, if you
do not get them in the desired color. Get a red handbag to go with it and apply yellow body paint over your face,
legs and hand. Attach a pair of long, fake eyelashes and you are all ready to rock the party in your Marge Simpson Costume.
